Trashcancer

The task was to help scientists get access to healthy people's medical data in order to find a cure for cancer.

We won gold in the Young Glory competition with our Trashcancer idea. Matt Clack, Creative Lead at Google Brand Studio, was the judge.
Even if the scientists get access to people's medical data, a common issue is that healthy people often don't go to the doctor. Ultimately resulting in a lack of data for scientists to work with. But when people discard their chewing gum, they leave behind valuable medical data, that doesn't need to go to waste. So why not use it?
Trashcancer is a can created to gather medical data while also working as consent for scientists to be able to use the data. Inside of the cans is a coloured paper system that will make sure that the chewing gum is separated from each other.
The trash cans have a great potential in reaching a wide audience. They can help communities reduce littering and help find a cure for cancer.

This way, all healthy gum chewers are more likely to share their medical data, than they would have been otherwise.
